‘Shapeshift’ (the first album I ever released/co-produced) - now has all 13 tracks available on streaming platforms. Before this, it was only available on CD. To celebrate its overdue move from CD into this century, I put together a booklet for you. I think the photos, lyrics, liner notes, and subtle details they hold, tell you more about the ‘Shapeshift’ experience than I can.
Made with love over 2 time zones, 4 studios, & with 18 very diverse artists, my intention was to produce an album that blended my two fragmented worlds back then, through words and music.
So began the documentation of my journey with identity, as I sang my stories, your stories, and stories I made up.
All songs were recorded acoustically, and some of the best memories I have are of the live band takes, and the live vocal harmony takes with Jamie. Ironically, the duet featuring Yazan and his song Trooh was recorded separately across continents!
For the ‘overthinkers’ out there (ha) look out for the easter eggs. Curious? Reveals will be posted soon.
Not included in booklet is this JO Magazine cover from 2010, featuring a review of the album, and a look into Amman's history and music scene that made me smile and laugh at the same time. (Press coverage & reviews found here).
